PROJECTS

1

CHILDREN & TEENS

We protect and support disadvantaged children and teens in our community. We provide students with school fees, uniforms, scholastic materials and essential hygiene needs. We also find and coordinate local guardians to help provide vulnerable children with food and shelter. Our volunteers conduct weekly mental health and wellbeing programs and Child Rights clubs in schools. They also work with street children daily, providing psychological support and essential food needs and supplies.

2

WOMEN & GIRLS

We are passionate about empowering women and girls to lead and learn in our community. We offer individual and small-group guidance and counselling sessions for women and girls of all ages. We also offer workshops in schools and local community spaces to help women and girls develop confidence, resilience and aspirations to succeed. With socio-economic empowerment, we aim for women to be independent in seeking employment and starting small-businesses in our community.

LIFE

SKILLS

We provide a range of three-month programs for community members to develop basic life skills outside school. Our programs include, agriculture, agri-business, tailoring, carpentry, welding, masonry, pastry, food, nutrition, hair and beauty. Ninety-five percent of graduates from our programs have gained self-sufficiency and employment in our community. Our career counsellors have supported a number of graduates in developing entrepreneurial skills and starting their own small-businesses.

4

HEALTH & HYGIENE

We run awareness campaigns to increase the health and hygiene of men, women and children in our community. Our current campaigns aim to reduce infant mortality, malnourishment and infectious diseases, such as, malaria, TB, STIs and HIV Aids. We also run maternal health programs to support women before, during and after pregnancy. Our workshops for community health volunteers provide opportunities to generate ideas and design new projects to meet community demands.

5

SPORT & FITNESS

To improve the physical fitness and wellbeing of men, women and children, we offer a range of community sport and fitness clubs. These clubs aim to reduce cultural norms that exclude women and girls from personal development and participation. They also support the development of self-esteem and leadership skills. We find our participants grow confidence and become more involved in decision-making in our community. Our sporting clubs include, football, netball, basketball, volleyball, cycling, athletics and swimming.

6

GENDER EQUALITY

We offer prevention programs on gender-based violence to uphold family and community peace. Our programs discuss strategies to develop accountability, independence and family unity. We also train elders in the community to form a Legal Advisory Council and set up alternative dispute resolution committees where women and girls can report cases of abuse. Our volunteers support survivors of gender based violence with transport, clothing and legal fees during the referral process. They advocate for the reduction of intimate partner, family and community abuse and violations.
